Stagewriters is a “discussion-based group” for playwrights. Some attendees will come with ideas about what they want to write; some will come with scenarios with which they are having difficulty writing; and others will come with written scenes to be read aloud and critiqued. So, whether we’re discussing what you want to write, what you’re struggling to write, or what you have written, Stage Writers meetings are open to the whole process of playwriting. (Of course, if you just want to come and listen, you are welcome too!)

HOW: Simple — bring your ideas and/or pages.

During the first hour, while some of us order food and eat (ordering food/drinks is not required to attend), we’ll focus on discussing what you want to write or what you’re struggling to write. During the second hour, we’ll read and critique scenes. If you’d like to have a scene (or ~8 pages) of your script read, then please bring along as many copies as there are speaking characters plus one. For example, if your scene/pages have three speaking roles, then please bring (at least) four copies — three for the characters and one for stage directions.
